"1981 engine, boat was idle 2.5 yrs. Put in new points, plugs, battery. Engine then turned over throughout a day and seemed to work fine (except outboard water pump so we could not run long).
Late same day of first start in 2.5 yrs, when ignition key is turned, no sound whatsoever. Engine was run periodically for a minute or so throughout the day and was turned off as water pump not working and did not want engine to overheat. Blowers, lights etc. work, battery fine.
Any thoughts on why engine would not even make sound to turnover after starting fine all day? Again, I get no sounds at all when turning ignition.
