"Rod, the alarm is not sounding like the loud beep sound you hear when you first turn on the key, it is a fant high pitched whistle. The oil is full with 40 PSI, the temp is normal at 160 degrees and the lower unit gear lube is at the max fill line. When I hold the alarm in my hand I can tell the whistle is coming from it. Also the tach problem gets worse when I wiggle the wire on the ingnition switch that feeds the gauges and the alarm. Thanks again for the addition help."

"Sounds like you have one or more iffy electrical connections. Are the wiring terminals corroded at all or loose?
Perhaps your ignition switch is iffy, or your tach may need replacing.

"Rod, you were 100% correct. B

"Rod, you were 100% correct. Both the tach and audio alarm whistle problems were the result of bad connections at the main connector in the engine compartment. I suspect that my starting problem was also the fault of the connector. The shift interrupt switch and shift cable checked out fine. The boat now starts and doesn't whistle at me. This makes me feel so much better.
Thank you so much for all of your advise and counsel.......................Joe"
