The boat did a sudden stop on the lake.
I took the top off of the drive after draining before removing the upper just to have a look.
I found a tooth off the gear that is on the yoke shaft laying in the bottom. It had a bearing replaced a year ago on that same shaft. It had a slight vibration in it since it had been fixed. The mechanic told me it was the gears meshing and it would go away. I really thought it was u-joints but I was wrong.
I want to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Was it bad backlash or shimming that caused it or just a bad gear?
