OMC Cobra 23 Ford Distributer Shaft

Our boat is in the shop. They

Our boat is in the shop. They thought it needed a timing belt but ended up needing the shaft that runs from the distributer. It also runs the oil and fuel pumps. Repair shop can't find a shaft. Any ideas on where to find one.

"Buy a new distributor. OMC had a recall on those distributors when they first started using the 2.3 as a marine engine. It is possible the recall (replace the distributor) was never performed on your engine and it should have been. Don't look for any help from OMC though, this recall was in the late eighties.

The distributor is not that expensive compared to rebuilding your old one and is the best way to repair this problem.
