"I have noticed the last couple of outings, my engine has been running a little rough. Fine with some throttle, but seemed starved for fuel at idle. I pulled the spark plugs today and noticed a little moisture on them. Just for kicks, I bumped the ignition with the plugs out and noticed that a significant amount of water vapor came from the spark plug holes. I am thinking I should be concerned about this. Guy? Peter? Suggestions?"

Could be head gasket, riser or riser gaskets, manifold, cracked head.

"Its a 1986 Mercruiser Alpha 190hp. The engine that I just replaced the impeller, thermostat and exhaust flapper due to an over heating problem."

"Overheating a few times plus

"Overheating a few times plus the age of the engine may have damaged the head gasket or cracked the intake manifold and the water jacket is leaking into the exhaust portion of the manifold. Compression test will rule out head gasket. Check comp. first then if good, pull the riser. Can't see a crack then pull the exhaust man. and examine it. May have to pressure test it to find it."
