"I need to install a new engine, Mercruiser 228. Can anyone steer me to a site with directions for removal and installation? Also, I am looking for a replacement engine (305) and exhaust manifold logs, rear dump.

"Get a manual. Seloc or Clymer are good. They are available on this site.
If you need a short block or long block package check Jasper or Michigan Motors. You can also check ebay. There are plenty of 305's around. Installing a car or truck engine is not recomended; get a proper marine engine.
If I was doing it I would put in a 350 instead. Same block, same weight, but more power. All accessories will bolt up the same. But that's just me.
