I wonder if there is anyone out there who may be able to help with a problem I have at the moment.
Does anyone know what the difference between the 4HP and 5HP single cylinder 1990's Yamaha 2 stroke is? Outwardly they appear identical, and I can find no obvious differences in the usual suspects (carb/bore size/exhaust etc. - even the Yamaha part numbers match) The reason I'm asking is that the carb on my 5HP long-shaft is dead and while I can get hold of a secondand carb (or complete engine) for the 4HP quite easily. I don't want to swap the carbs over if it means that I will lose power (motor pushes a 24ft sailing boat so I need all the power I can get for those awkward situations!) Can some knowledgeable advise what exactly the differece is?
