"Got a 2007 Yamaha 25, there is a black oil like substance coming from between lower unit and where it seals at top of unit is this normal??"

It probably indicat

It probably indicates that exhaust is escaping from the exhaust system where the lower and mid-section meet. It could be a minor problem, or it could be more serious if the exhaust is also heating up the water pump.
