The lifting ring is available from any Mercury Marine Dealer. IT cost $30-40. Don't try to make one unless you have the correct tools.

" John, I have used heavy plumbing strap iron attached to the flywheel by the existing 5/16" flywheel bolts to lift my 300# Merc 150 inline six. I have been very careful when doing this, since a falling motor at best will break itself, and at worst will break you and itself. "
