T50 Gear Problem after Water Pump Kit Job

"I removed pump housing and re

"I removed pump housing and removed o-ring, reinstalled it and all gaskets etc and a new impeller. Seems as if it's locked in gear and I can't get it out. Tried moving shifting spline, it rotates fine. Shaft moves freely. When rotating prop it clicks in one direction. Not sure how to get it out of gear. Removed all and verified nothing under housing moved. It's all seeming fine just can't get it into neutral."

Asuming you have reconnected the gearshift linkeage - you might need to readjust it - by tightening or loosening the connecting barrel (long nut) connecting the upper shify rod and the lower linkeage.

The clicking prop is absolutely normal.

holding prop with one hand and turning shifting spline w/pliers was able to find neutral and get it back in okay.

Tried the trick with shifting lever first, didn't work though.
