Does enyone know what pitch p

Does enyone know what pitch prop i should have on a 40hp mariner long shaft pushing a 18.6ft long 7ft wide alu. boat it has a 13 on it but it is to slow on Rpm it can not rase the back of the boat. I do not know what came on it new.

my engine was running perfectly when i bought it and it stopped and just wont start again.

" Grinder...Need more info, but you can ckeck your compression first. If OK {100 lbs per cylinder or better as long as there within 15 lbs or each other} check for spark, if OK you should have a fuel problem. If no spark my guess is a stator failure. A ser# would be more helpfull a merc or mariner makes a variety of 40hp motors...DJ "
