"390 Ford engine Ft converted to marine use...reverse rotation

The engine was a rebuild--auto operation.

Installed camshaft from 352 Interceptor to create reverse rotation.

Engine did run beatiful, lots of torque, not to mention power.

Here is a problem I have now with only 4 hrs. on engine.

!. Has a new Mallory distributor reverse rotation.

2. Has a new fuel pump

3. New plugs and carb re=build

4. Has spark in all cylinders, along with compression..140 Lbs.

Engine will only idle for a few seconds, and when trying to add throttle, will stall and blow black smoke out pipes.

Sometimes will blow gas up carb after stalling.

I have changed intake gasketsagain..no change

Jumped from battery to coil to test Ign No change

I am at my wits end with this and need some advice as to what may be happening here.

I have tried 2 different carbs, one an AFB and the other Edelbrock. No chg.

OK guys...Please This is awful..Since the season is running short...Would like to put away for the winter in running condition.

"Wouldent it have been easier to simply replace your prop with the right rotation, rather than rebuild this engine? most makes of drive units offer reverse rotation props."
