1975Caravelle w 140 OMC 4cy OMC outdrive

I am new to this board and to boating.
I may be able to get a 1975 cravavelle tri hull for around $500 with a trailer.
It has a 140 OMC #990226A and an OMC outdrive #980703.
The water jacket is cracked, the valve cover is full of rust, (just took a peak down the oil filler tube), the oil is black black black, the rubber transom boot is shot. The boat was running when it was (maybe put up right) in 1990?? or so.
Arizona and So Cal winters.
Is this a night mare of a first boat project?
What I have gathered so far from sites like this is:
That the drive is a stringer??
It is an electric shift?? verses hydrolic
It is a 400 stringer? vs 800.
There are some parts avail. for $$$$.
It is a 140 horse motor made by????OMC or??? cc'ss???
Any advice or places to look. I am ready to buy a manual for this set up but am still a little hesitant about jumping into an OMC project. Thanks "

I have a used OMC v6 complete

I have a used OMC v6 complete except lower unit. Came from a 1979 crusiers 19' Needs a starter motor. runs. I believe this was 155hp. If interested I can send pic.
