Hystat i need help with shift cable on 800

i did everything i was told to

i did everything i was told to do and the shift cable still will not budge in the intermediate housing is there another trick to getting it out? please give me some advice as july the fourth is coming fast i am trying to get it on the water by then

"Penatrating oil inside and out and some back and forth motion is the only trick I've known for all the years I've worked on them. Problem is someone didn't grease it up last time and now corrsion has set in. Keep lubing it up and hopefully it will come, you don't want the other option!!!"
 
"Stick a long 3/8 inch socket

"Stick a long 3/8 inch socket extension between the cable and the upper unit. Pry down and it will come out. I had the same problems as you, thought I was going to have to cut it. I shot some WD40, still didn't budge. Stuck that extension in there and with a little pressure it pulled right out."
