I cant get the stern drive to come off the spline shat

i have removed thje 6 bolts an

i have removed thje 6 bolts and done everything i know to do buyt it just seems to be seized on there like something is stopping it hitting solid sord of speak. is there a tool i need or ami just doing something wrong. the most it will move is about half an inch.

"Make sure it's in forward, as keith said, I use wooden shims from any home center, tap them in equally on either side just below the center studs, wood won't damage the mating surface, sometimes the O rings prevent the shaft from sliding out of the gimble bearing easily."
