1992 PCM Pro Boss High Oil Pressure

"My 1992 ski nautique with the

"My 1992 ski nautique with the pcm 351 pro boss engine started pinning the needle with 80+ high oil pressure.

There are no other indications that anything is wrong - engine temperature, sounds, etc.

However, the limp mode has kicked in and it won't go above 2500 rpm.

I suspect a problem with the sending unit, gauge, etc.

What engine troubleshooting might I do before I just assume it is the guage and something significantly wrong in the engine?

I made a change at the end of

I made a change at the end of last season - filter and oil. it is stored in the underground caves here in KC so it stays at 60 degrees during the winter.

It has about 2 hours on it since putting it in the water this season before the excessive oil pressure started showing on the gauge.

Are you suggesting a precautionary change of draining out the oil and changing the filter?

possibly a clogged filter?

It will run more normal oil pressure when it was idling but then jumped up to pinning the needle after a few minutes.

try that, if not maybe the gauge or sender or even the pressure relief is not working"
