"I was wondering how close the water temp is to the actual temp of the engine block or thermostat housing. For example, if water temp reads 180,would the engine temp be fairly close?Also, would this be to hot to touch with your hand? Thanks.Bryan"

"David is right. You can touch 125 to 130, and that's it. 180 will feel very hot to the touch.

Here I go again: Buy a laser

Here I go again: Buy a laser temp gun (under 30 bucks) and see what's happening! The t-stat runs the motor up to 10 degrees hotter than its set point. My engines run 150 with 142 'F t-stats.
