"Hey all,
I need to pull my motor (7.4 !992)in a 1978 26' sea ray. I have the book for pulling the out drive but would like some tips on how difficult it will be. I pulled the motor last year to replace the coupler but the outdrive was off already and I paid a guy to reinstall it. He claimed to be a certified merc mechanic. Whe I picked the boat up in Nov. He claimed that he had drained the motor as he ran it (colorado) wrong! Neddless to say In have cracked block that I now need to repalce. I am comfortable with the engine removal & replacedment but am unsure about the outdrive removal. Does the prop need to come off first? Thanks in advance for any help. I have filed a small claims case against this joker but do I have any recourse with merc if he is certified by them? Tim"
