"After hydrolock got engine running, no bent or damaged rods or crankshaft, that was the good news. Bad news was the flywheel is missing teeth from trying to start the hyrolocked engine. Can the flywheel be replaced thru the transom w/o removing engine from boat? Any special tools needed to remove and replace outdrive? Can I use an automobile flywheel from a Ford 351 that matches? Boat is a 1996 Chris Craft 250 Concept with OMC Cobra sterndrive and 5.8 FI Volvo Penta."

"you need to pull the motor. it's not all that difficult. once you get the flywheel off, take it to a machine shop. ring gear can be replaced for $40-50."
