" Hello,

I finally completed installing and wiring my old 1985 XP 150 Evinrude to a 2003 19 ft. Key West Center Console Sportsman. The installation went fairly smoothly. I only had a couple of wires that had me confused for a while. First of all my engine had the old type VRO (no wires). The engine had set on the old boat, without any use since 1988. I was concerned that the engine would even run after sitting un-used for that long. So far, the only problem has been is the VRO and the VRO tank, and all of the fuel, vacuum & oil lines.
I replaced the water pump and thermostats. The carburetors seems fine, and engine runs just like it did brand new in 1985.
The system check on the 2003 boat works the idiot lights on the tach and the warning horn work for all of the warning sensors.
Sure beats buying a new 150-hp. engine.

" Opps,

Forgot to mention that I replaced the old no-wire VRO and VRO tank with a new four-wire VRO and new VRO tank...

Now for a basic tune-up and change the pitch on the prop.
