I have a 76 Evinrude 115hp wi

I have a 76 Evinrude 115hp with a broke ring on cylinder 1. How can I change only this one pistons rings? Can I just take off only the head or do I also have to take off the pan then remove the connecting rod and push the piston up and change? I need to do a quick cheap fix. Does the connecting rod have to be attached exactly as it was taken off? I was told there is a little play and it has to be aligned perfect. Is this correct? Any ideas of a quick cheap fix.

" The motor needs to come apart to pull the rod.There is no cheap fix.Broken rings is a very, VERY common problem on the " pressure back " ring motors. If you are going to do 1 how long will it be before you do the next one?????? "
