I put my 2004 Tahoe Q4 in the water this season after the winter. It was winterized. It is having a hard time starting and staying running. I can hear what sounds like air blowing near the carburetor. After a start it will sputter out and die. Once I get it started it runs fine and starts great. It’s just the first start of the day. It’s always started great before this season. Any ideas?

"Choke not closing fully? When dead cold, pull the arrestor and see if the choke is closed. Be sure to whack the throttle a good one before you look (to set the choke).

"actuate the throttle once before keying on the ignition. The choke fly should slam closed. To verify what Jeff is suggesting (engine in need of choke adjustment), fire the engine up and while it is stumbling, give the choke fly a little help opening with the tip of a screwdriver. The idle should smooth out. Follow adjustment proceedures outlined the the Merc manual."
