You can use a standard wire and use an external resistor bolted onto the coil mounting bracket.
You should be able to pick up the resistor from any auto or boat spare parts shop.
You still need the resistor in the circute unless you change your coil.

You can also do yourself a HUG

You can also do yourself a HUGE favor and toss out yourt lower voltage coil and replace it with a 12 volt coil so you won't need any resistor. There's some really great coils out there (Jegs or Summit) that throw a huge spark.
