"Can an impeller be installed

"Can an impeller be installed backwards.For example,the fins turning in the wrong direction.If so, would this cut down on my water flow?thanks."

"Bryan; assuming it's an Alpha, the vertical shaft turns CW looking down, for a RH rotation drive.
The new impeller can be installed either way, but the blades curve out and back from the direction of rotation. If you did this right, you should have lots of water flow.
If this does not make sense, Email me and I will send you a photo of what it should look like.
