"Having a strange problem with my Maxum 2300 5.7 Mercruiser. I had it properly winterized, stored with about 1/2 tank of that wonderful ethanol enhanced fuel, same prop everything. I have lost about 400 rpm's at WOT over last season. Mechanic says it is the fuel and I should run the old stuff out and fill with new. It was stored with Sta-Bil. Would it make sense that it is fuel?

Hull clean and slick? Bilge not full of water? My guess is he is probably right if the engine is running on all cylinders. Guy

"I stored mine with less fuel than that, but I used the enzime stuff (Star-Tron) that everyine is recommending for that ethanol crap. So far (sound of knuckles knocking wood) no problems.

You might not be so lucky. Since that's a trailered boat (yes?) I'd siphon the gas out and replace it. You can put it in several containers, let it sit for a while, and pour off the top 2/3rds to run a lawnmower (or etc).
