just wondering if anyone out t

just wondering if anyone out there can steer me in the right direction. i have an 88 40 hp johnson vro. just replaced water pump. when ideling in driveway with muffs on runs fine then coughs every now and then like somthing is killing spark in one cyl. after ten minutes or so overheat alarm comes on could it be a head gasket? 143 psi both cylnders. constant beep

"are u getting good stream from water indicator?.i would suspect u may have to go back in water pump,....was it overheating before u did the job?..u may have 2-3 diff prob's.turn water on all the way to garden hose.Make sure flushette is on tight,and over intakes well."
 
ran into a 35 johnny once that

ran into a 35 johnny once that did the same thing. the overboard (pee) tube was stopped up.
