"What kind of damage could I have done by hooking up the wrong switch?
My key broke off on my '94 Lowe pontoon boat so I purchased what I thought was the right ignition switch.Turns out I was wrong. My switch is the regulaR M,M,C,S,B,ACC. My wiring is Pur,Pur w/white,yell w/black, yellow w/red,black,red w/purple.
I bought the switch with the "I" on it and hooked it up.
I put the old switch in (would still start before removing)and now nothing happens.
Please Help!!! 3 day weekend!!!"

I would suspect you've blown a fuse under the engine cowling (assume this is an outboard?) I would also post this under the Johnson/Evinrude if that's what you have so you can get help from the outboard guys...good luck!

"Yeah, I checked ALL the fuses and all seem to be in working order.
The engine is an '83 70hp Evinrude.
Everything worked fine until the switch problem."
