"I have twin crusader 454s This year one engine started fine the other would not start eventually starting on 4 cylinders and running only on accelerator pump. I pulled carb and when I opened it up there was a white powdery deposit, no varnish. Cleaned it up, blew out with an airline and reinstalled. Engine started and ran fine. Have not removed and cleaned carb from other engine yet but suppose I should. I always use fuel store when laying boat up. Fuel filters and separators are clean.

Any idea on what these deposits may be ?"

I had the same thing - was wondering as well. I do know that in my case I had injested some seawater via a poorly installed fuet tank vent fitting.
