Engine running well and then I

Engine running well and then I changed the anti-siphoning valve. I noticed that previous owner took 'ball' out of valve for some reason. Engine now stalls when I start pushing the rpm's. Runs fine at low rpm's. Can you install valve wrong way and/or is the valve cutting off fuel when engine calls for it??

"If it was reversed, the motor would never start. I would look for a crimp in the fuel line or, if the boat is a '97-'99, make sure the fuel line isn't de-laminating internally. There was a recall on some fuel line material in about that time. You may be able to weaken the spring in the valve but I wouldn't recommend removing it. The fuel pump may be weak or there may be debris in a fuel filter, too."
