" '93 25 hp yamaha has had trouble off and on starting and running. im at a loss here, as what to do now. it used to start right up, idle for a few minutes, then sputter to a stop. after that it would not kick back. id go back the next day, and it would fire and do the same thing. very rarely would it ever start, idle and let me go out. right now, it dosent even kick. i kno it has spark, and fuel going to the cylinders, other thent that, i dont kno. any help would be great..thanks "

It sounds to me like the timing needs to be advanced at idle position.

"Yamaha's rarely have an ignition or electrical problem. Fuel problems are the main causes. More than likely if the motor has sat for 6 or more months the carbs need cleaning. Also, make sure all fuel lines are tight and not sucking air"
