I have a 1985 Flare. Im rewiri

I have a 1985 Flare. Im rewiring the boat on the shifter there are 2 sets of wires coming out of it 3 go to the switch 2 go to the under side if the cable box What are these 2 wires for? Does the gauge represent the motor or the dog leg? What does the switch on the dash move.
Thanks im new to this stuff.

Normally the switch on the shi

Normally the switch on the shifter operates the trim which raises and lowers the engine at the front. The switch on the dash operates the tilt which you only use when the engine is off and you want to raise the leg very high. I believe the guage is for the trim (I'm assuming ths is a Stringer OMC)?
