Does anyone know if a 140 HP 1

Does anyone know if a 140 HP 1977 and 1979 blocks are the same part number or interchangeable? Thanks.

"Sorry, the blocks are NOT the same - all versions of the 77 are OMC part number 387750 and all versions of the 79 are 389548 and a quick check on the BRP site shows that they bolt up to different exhaust adapters etc. So my initial guess would be NO - there was definately a model change between those years. However, this size of motor is out of my normal "realm" and someone else may be able give you retrofit information."
