I am looking for information

I am looking for information on a Johnson Electramatic motor that is on a boat that I just purchased. It has a model number of 40473 R.

Thanks for the information. I did not have any idea about the year. I just got a boat with this motor and it had an externial voltage regulator attached to the electrical system. This did not appear to be normal unless something was wrong with the system on the motor. Maybe it was put on to run other equipment such as a depth finder etc.. Does someone have a manual for this motor? Maybe I should take it to a dealer and have it checked out.

The controls are Evinrude and have push buttons for forward, neuteral and reverse. "

The push button control is compatible with the JOHNSON motor.What does the external regulator look like????
 
Looks like it come off a olde

Looks like it come off a older vehicle. It has three coils with contacts. It was wired into the control box for the controls.

Thanks for your help. I found a repair shop today that had one of these motors and a manual.
