"i have 1978 ranger, 17 ft, with 115hp johnson the recomended prop is a 13x19 i was told by a dealer i would better performance with a 14x19 is this true? what's your thoughts"

"the wot rpms won't be much different going between a 14X19 and a 13X19.

The difference will be the hole shot. On a light boat, the 14 will give more bite and pull the boat up faster. With a heavy boat, the 13 will allow the engine to spin up to a higher rpm while planing the boat. This will reduce lugging on the engine and plane the boat a little easier.

As with most prop issues, the best bet is to try both and see what happens.
