Im trying to adjust the TPS se

Im trying to adjust the TPS sensor. Do I need the Yamaha harness called out in the repair manual? If I back probe the connector I get readings from 3.5V -4.7V. My manual instructions show to tighten TPS when readings are .68-.72V ?? Help..

I understand the concerns with

I understand the concerns with back probing. I have the proper tools for correctly backprobing terminals 1/4 that size. I am just wondering if the readings are wrong or the manual

The manual that my dealer sold

The manual that my dealer sold me is published by Clymer. It covers 78-225 HP 4 Stroke
