"i am attempting to change to

"i am attempting to change to waterpump on my *73 65hp evinrude...i have the "foot" loose and it has dropped about 1/2 inch but it will not come off.

what am i missing? is there something higher up i must remove?

i dont want to just pull on it and tear up a linkage or anything, but i dont see anything else to disconnect.

Under the bottom carburetor on

Under the bottom carburetor on the port side is the shift linkage diconnect screw.
