"I just took out the starter on my 1987 Silverton 34C with Crusader 270s. It looks like the ring gear also needs to be replaced. Can the motor be shifted forward to remove the bell housing, or do I have to lift the engine out of the boat?"

The Flywheel needs to be Removed so the Ring Gear can be replaced....."

"That's what the Service Advisor from Silverton told me. Support the rear of the engine, remove the trannie and unbolt the bell housing.
