1998 Nissan 15D2; Is there supposed to be a small opening in the lower unit beside the flush/vent openings that I see some gear oil coming out of??
 
I think you are looking at a d

I think you are looking at a drain hole for a cavity in the exhaust housing and the oil is unburnt oil from the mixture if it is a 2 stroke.You should not be concerned.
