"Hi,

I have a 1990 (guesstimate) 40hp model 'HETD', thats leaking hydraulic fluid from the tilt/trim system. What type of hydraulic fluid should I use to top this up so I can test and exmaine it further? I have just got some generic power steering hydraulic fluid, is that ok? Or should it be somthing like dexron 3? My local yam dealer said 'hydraulic fluid as you would use int your car' but was unclear as to what type.

I just posted concerning hydraulic problems in my 40 hp Yam. What did you find out about yours? I may have a leak also. Thanks.
