" Last weekend I had my yanmar

" Last weekend I had my yanmar diesel run away, I was lucky enough to stop the engine before self destruct. On further investegation I found that there was fuel in my oil. Can anyone out there give some input as to how this happened? Is it an injector problem? I did change the oil and filter and ran the engine after runaway and all seems normal.

" Sir,

I do not sure about

" Sir,

I do not sure about Yanmars, but that used to happen in the Detroits I had. It was caused by too large of injectors for the rpm the engine was used at most of the time. For example with my boat I had a large Detroit set up to run on its upper rpm's most of the time but I found myself idling for long lengths of time as I picked my gear(commercial fishing). I ended up reducing the injectors to a smaller size, I lost a little on the top end but wasted less fuel.
Older Detroits are two cycle so it may not be what caused your problem.

Good luck in determining what caused it, I would be interested to know what happens, I know of alot of guys that have the Yanmars.

Thanks

Tim "
