" Moving from gas to diesel in

" Moving from gas to diesel in a used marine environment, I hear many conflicting statements. While I recognize the advantages of sleeved engines from a rebuild standpoint, I'm being told that non-sleeved (like Cat 3208's) are "throw-away" engines and can't be succesfully rebuilt... I'd really apreciate the facts.....thanks "

" 3208 cat is not a throw-awy

" 3208 cat is not a throw-awy engine. Althought the block does not have cylinder liners, it can be bored for oversize pistons or bored and sleeved to standard bore. Talk to you local engine machine shop or your Cat dealer. "

an experienced engine shop wi

an experienced engine shop will probably put a sleeve in a known potential problem cylinder im not sure but i think there is one that is usually the problem on the 3208 and they put one in cylinder with no problem to prevent any problem that might arise from boring cylinder oversize during overhaul
