I have a 1971 Johnson 50hp el

I have a 1971 Johnson 50hp electirc shift. It was running fine then suddenly stopped. It now appears to have no spark on either cylinder. How can I troubleshoot.

Also the electirc shift switch in the control unit is bad. Does anyone know where they would be available and the approx. price
 
" Rich.... Disconnect the main

" Rich.... Disconnect the main RED electrical plug at the engine. Remove the s/plugs. Crank the engine via a jumper wire at the solenoid.

If you now have spark, in all probability the ignition switch is shorted.

If still no spark, the usual cause is a failed powerpack.

The shift switch is no longer available but may be found at various dealerships or other outboard repair shops.
