How hard is to change out the lower unit on a 1972 mercury 1150. I have located one (used) dont really have the money to take it somewhere to have it fixed right now.

This is a simple job. Don't forget to remove the anode and remove the screw that is hidden by it. You should have four nuts and one screw securing the lower unit.

When you replace the unit, have the remote control and the lower unit in neutral, and make sure the water tube goes into the grommet in the top of the water pump. "
