"My trim gauge has never worke

"My trim gauge has never worked, so i bought a new one. After refitting the gauge still nothing registers when i trim the engine. I have checked the fuses under the dashboard and they seem ok, is there any other fuses that i should check? I am totally crap when it comes to electrics and boats

"what drive do you have? if a 290, check the reluctor wheel above the steering forks. there is a plastic track on the steering helmet that cracks. bet this your problem, very common"
 
yes its a 290 but i dont know

yes its a 290 but i dont know how to find the Relutctor wheel? Any idea on finding a manual or a part guides showing the layout of thr drive unit?

"The trim sender itself is on

"The trim sender itself is on top of the steering shaft inside the transom. Disconnect the plug, hook up an ohm meter, trim up and down. Change in reading indicates the sending system works.
But if You have the boat on a trailer, check the cam on top of the steering helmet first as mentioned above."
