"Replaced impeller and thermostat last spring, ran a total of 30 hours rest of the year. I run my boat at least once a month during the cold months. No problems so far. Well last week my son took it out and motor ran hot, about 220 degrees before he shut if off. He didn't go very far. Water intake clean. Evidently the pump never "primed itself" because when I opened the pump housing the pump was in pieces, basically burnt up. Installed new pump, removed discharge hose from manifold to prime pump(shouldn't have to do this)filled with water and put hose back on. It would pump some of the water out with engine running but no flow. The exhaust manifold would get hot. The water intake hose is connected to a round device on the back of engine which also has 2 power steering hydrualic lines connected to. Is this like a heat exchanger for the power steering. Could this be my problem and how do I clean/fix it."
