Guest isolator and b91 Johnson 140

"I have installed a 3rd batter

"I have installed a 3rd battery in my boat to run just the depthfinder,radio etc.I was told the best(safest)way to get this battery to charge off the motor was to put in an isolator.So i picked up a Guest 2 battery 70 amp isolator.Looks simple enough,but I'm not sure about where to get the power to the isolator from.There are 2 choices I see,
1:wiring to engines with external regulator and dedicated sense wire.
2:wiring to engines with external regulator and without dedicated sense wire.
Option 1 takes the power from the DC output of the regulator.Option 2 takes the AC power before the regulator.Which way do I go?

Due to the type of charging system used on OBs, I would use a battery combiner in lieu of an isolator.

This is a safe, simple way to keep all batteries charged, yet separated when discharging.
