i just bought my boat last ye

i just bought my boat last year and the guy gave me some oil he said just put it in the top when its low well it is 2 cycle oil and it just started to sputter out and wouldnt stay running did i screw it up or do i mix it with gas and put it in the top of the engine

If this is a three cy

"Joe,

If this is a three cylinder 75 with an oil tank on the engine, all you have to do is add pure oil(two cycle) to the tank. It pays to keep it full so that you can see how much oil is being used.
