" I've recently renovated an old 2.5hp Mercury, which came (not working) with a dinghy I bought.
Could any one tell me:- 1.What the spark plug gap should be? 2.What the points (contact-breaker) gap should be? 3. Any tips on setting up the adjustment screw on the port side of the carb. Any other advice would be welcome. It starts well, misses slightly, picks-up smartly but takes a long while to drop back to an idling speed after you've reved it. "
