I have a 40 hp Evinrude. The

I have a 40 hp Evinrude. The tilt works going up but does not work down. This was intermittent last year but it doesn't work at all now. What could be the problem?

I'll have to look for # this weekend. Miles away---
It's power tilt/trim. Has up/down button on throttle controls as well as on the motor.
 
could be the trim switch or c

could be the trim switch or could be one of the trim relays they are mouted in abox probaly in the rear compartment of the boat
