I have 1970 115hp evin

hello
I have 1970 115hp evinrude that is in need of a new lower unit.. i found a good deal on one off a 77 i just wondered if it would fit my motor?

The hydro electric lower unit

The hydro electric lower units are well designed. If you find a shop that deals in fresh water motors there is no doubt you will find a good lower unit or someone who will fix yours. In the NORTH and in CANADA there are still lots of these motors running like a charm. Only in FLORIDA have they gone the way of the DODO

Thanks For the info guys.. I have one more question for you. what would be involved in changing out a prop shaft on the lower unit i have?
 
You remove the 4 bolts holdin

You remove the 4 bolts holding the propshaft bearing carrier. You remove the bearing carrier. You will need a hefty pair of circlip pliers to remove 2 clips. The prop shaft will then come out.
